Chronique d’un été (Chronicle of a Summer), the documentary filmed by Jean Rouch and Edgar Morin during the summer of 1960 in Paris, France is out on DVD and Blu-Ray on February 26, thanks to Criterion.

Asking ‘Are You Happy?’ to various anonymous people, the film tries to apply Dziga Vertov’s goal of showing the world as it is. Whether this particular film succeeds in achieving this or not, it undoubtedly remains a historical and sociological document.

Pitchfork announced that Fire Records are starting to reissue the complete Half Japanese catalog. They will start April 20 with the first album of the Fair brothers, Half Gentlemen/Not Beasts, as well as an earlier EP and unreleased tracks.
